I love this old picture. It's just beautiful to me.

"These are a few of my favorite things...."

These are just a few of my favorite things around my house. The old windows came out of a kitchen hutch in my old neighbors house. When he passed away and they decided to redo his apartment, I salvaged them, as something to rememeber him by. The green man is something that I have had for years. My mom found him for me when I was seventeen. Sometimes I'm convinced he watches me, he's even scared a few people that have come to the house and catch a face out of the corner of their eye. The little collage is just something that I made one night, I'm not much of an artist, but I do love to create little things. The green shutters, there actually two, is something that Brent brought home with him one day. I love cool, old beat up stuff. The old fan came from Brent's parents, I have a thing for old fans and old maps. And the old coke crate is full of old bass lures, it sits on my mantel, and that was Brent's creation, and I love it. The statue of a man, is actually a lamp, the first thing I got at my first antique auction in Griffin, GA. The old clock came out of The Plum Tree, I swear one day their going to find that I moved in there! The finial came out of a old barn next to an apartment building Brent and I were searching through the summer we first met. The buddha head is actually a book end, I saw the pair and fell in love. The apocathary jar was a Christmas present from one of Brent's brothers, I filled it with lavender, and put in the B&E(Brent and Emily), another wonderful Christmas present from one of his other brother's.
Please bare with me as the pictures are not that great, and I'm still trying to figure this blog thing out, but loving every minute of it!!

Exciting news!!

Exciting news!! Today one of my co-workers, who is also a dear and close friend to Brent and I, was placing an add in the newspaper. Well the women that came out to see him, must have said something to strike his fancy, because he told her all about my candle making. It's funny because she sat down in his office and he called me in to meet her, and the first thing she asked was if the candle on the desk was one of mine. I laughed and said no, I don't think I'm quite up there with the professionals yet, but she was interested and I gave her a business card, and my blog address. How exciting is that?! I was all smiles for the rest of the afternoon. I can't wait to start making some more candles. I haven't had the time with all the hustle and bustle in the insurance business after the new year. But that really struck a strong cord, and I am ready to dive in. I love what I do, but I would really really love to have a candle business on the side, something that I could do to nurture my creative side. I'm just so excited!! You'll have to excuse me, I am quite the dork. I've even been thinking about getting some business cards made, so I can start networking. Hope all is well with everyone!!

The Farm

Brent captured this picture over Christmas when we were up visiting my mom and step-dad in Washington, Georgia. This is the barn on their farm. I love this picture, it's dusk, and that's the moon. All I can say is beautiful.

Well the new year has started, and today was my first day back at the old work place. I have to say, I wasn't doing cartwheels. But it always seems that after a long vacation, you have to "break" yourself in again. Savannah is freezing cold!! It is going to be in the teens tonight!! I'm bundled up, and the puppies are bundled too. Lola and Brinkley are bathing in the rays of the heater as we speak, and little Gretta Belle is wrapped up in a cozy blanket laying in my lap. I've never had a small dog before, so it's going to take some getting used to. Last night, Lola, my boxer went to lay down in her doggie bed, (that Gretta was already lying in), and when she went to sit down, Gretta growled and snapped at her. I guess this little dog can hold her own!! I just wanted to thank everyone for their support of my new blogging ventures and such, it really means alot. Stay warm tonight ya'll, it's gonna be a cold one!!
