~This Week So Far.

My food aversions and upset stomach took a break for a couple of days and then came back with a vengeance.

I really really hate spicy chicken wings.

Heartburn is a common thing nowadays.

I am developing mountains on my chest, (pretty cool, but I wonder how big they will get).

I am hot all the time!!!!!!

I have never had such vivid dreams in my life, it is amazing and sometimes scary.

I have a little babe bump!!!!!!

I could and would sleep all day if Brent-Boy would let me.

I am still craving pie.

I am doing a lot of reading on breast feeding. If anyone has any suggestions please share!!

I am in love with two people now, not just one.

Keep a bottle of tums in your purse and beside the bed. Make sure that you eat something BEFORE you are hungry - snack often. Crackers, cheerios, anything you can bear to swallow. Cheerios were about the only thing I could stomach because they weren't so bad coming back up! I wish I could assure you that it won't last all 9 months, but I can't. But it can't last any longer, either! Have you tried the wristbands they use for sea sickness?

You will start living in the land of the awake during the 2nd trimester - you will feel so much better! Then comes 3rd trimester and you get anxious, and big, and tired again.

I dreamed crazy dreams - mostly about old loves. In one dream, I went on a space mission to the moon and bit off the head of an ex for stores for my trip!

As far as breastfeeding goes - I have a list of must haves that I can email to you. I am an old pro & my mom is a lactation consultant. It is the most wonderful experience! But the first week is sooooooo hard! Feel free to ask any questions!

Hope I'm not scaring you! But most people lie to your face and tell you that child bearing is great and they don't tell you about how hard it can be. I much prefer honesty any day! It IS wonderful. But it is also difficult at the same time.

Talk soon!
Amanda

P.S. Store up that pregnancy gas for when Brent makes you mad. Then smile politely and leave him in a cloud of stinky death!

Lady Em, Pass on Amanda's breastfeeding list when you get it!

Knock on wood, but I've excaped the heartburn so far, but I'm right there with you about chicken. Spicy or not, I can't do it. Amanda's right about the eat often. I was doing every 2 hours and it kept the nausia away.

Ps...my chest is still growing...I hope it stops soon!
Now that I'm 12 weeks, the tiredness is easing, but I'm starting to get headaches and nosebleeds. Hopefully the filters for my humidifyer will be here soon.

You know the key to successful breastfeeding? JUST DON'T GIVE UP!! It will be hard, and you will be tired, but after that 3rd week, you will be loving it, and after 6 months you will be happy your little one stills wants to snuggle up and nurse...and after 10 months you will be sad that your babe will be weaning to a sippy cup!!

(P.S.) Breast pumps are great, get a good one. I LOVE my Medela pump in style...Well worth EVERY penny!!

And that loving two...is the thing you will never be able to explain to people who have no children...

You are wonderful!!

Hi Emily,
It's Dawn Dallaire, I love reading your blog to see how you're feeling. I remember having weird dreams when I was pregnant. I dreamed I gave birth to a cat. Boy, was I relieved when I actually gave birth to a baby!! Which by the way he's 15 now, maybe a cat wouldn't have been a bad idea!! LOL

I think the secret to the success of breastfeeding is your attitude. If you decide you are going to do this no matter what, you're good. If you are just going to try this and see how it goes, you're setting yourself up to give up. Have a good support system. People who encourage you and are 100% on board with you on this. Become well educated. Don't be afraid to ask questions. (Not a problem for you!:))
The thing that surprised me most about nursing my girl was that she didn't completely know how to do it instinctively, we both had to learn. It was challenging a little at first, but with patience, you both get the hang of it, after a couple of days or so, and then it's easy-peasy.
I nursed my girl for almost a year when she weaned herself. I loved it. Ask me anything you like. I want you to succeed at this!
